Located North of Los Angelos and on the west shore of California, Santa Barbara is generally thought of as a beach side resort, but it is so much more, it has a growing winemaking Community with unique and interesting Diverse Wines and Tasting rooms. The Topography spans a East to West orientation forming valleys allowing inland flows of fog and ocean breezes to shape one of the coolest growing regions in California. The growing season is typically longer here, allowing the grapes to mature longer.
Temecula Wine Country
Temecula Wine Country is near San Diego, just off of Interstate 15. It has been growing for many years and since we began visiting in 2009 it’s has become even bigger and seems busier every time we go. It has a great Old Town with shops & restaurants that perfect for strolling after a day of wine tasting, or even during the day. There are two main roads, Rancho California and Deportola Road, where most of the vineyards are located, but there are several growing on the off shoot roads.
Paso Robles (full name: El Paso de Robles ‘The Pass of the Oaks’) is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California. Located on the Salinas River north of San Luis Obispo, California, the city is known for its hot springs, its abundance of wineries, production of olive oil & almond orchards. Paso is a great place for many great wine makers we love, from Tablas Creek to Lone Madrone ( same Wine maker, different styles) Opolo, Tobin James, Red Soles, Kenneth Volk, just to name a few. There are over 200 or more and growing.
“So many Different Styles, Philosophies, Places, Terrior, So many Stories”

A group of Wine Makers in Santa Barbara County have opened tasting rooms in the town of Los Olivos. Los Olivos is a town that is all of two blocks long with many of the historic buildings restored, while new buildings all match the decor and architecture of the historic Los Olivos.
The Fess Parker Wine Country Inn is located in Los Olivos. Surrounding Area hotels are located in Solvang, which also have several tasting rooms.
Wine Pairing, Recipes & More
Criss Crossing Wine Country and tasting Wine from many different regions, we are also learning what goes well with the wine along the way. Food & Wine are an integral symbiotic arrangement especially pairing local food with Local Wine. This in some cases is what enhances the overall experience.
