It's still #nationalzinfandelday and we are still celebrating! We found this beauty is the cellar. A gift to be sure (I should get out there to visit!). Janell is 4th generation Paso Roblan who grew up on the Dusi vineyard where prized Zin grapes hail from.
It hits duller on the palate on the first sip. I think perhaps it's hitting a closed phase. But quite honestly I need to give this a minute to open up. This dips a little into the purples color wise, but only a bit, holding on to deep reds. There is a bit of a rim. Tidy tannins stroll along your mouth sweeping up after themselves. The next swish is a bit livelier, but still mellow. Pronounced in a polite way. This is not the wine that Tobin James would make with these grapes.
As it opens there is more of those notes of raisins, stewed fruits. #youcansipwithus #pasorobleswinecountry #zinfandel @jdusiwines
