As summer starts to wind down, we all will have been enjoying plenty of white wine in the heat. I am sure that along the way, you popped something in your mouth, took a swig of a white wine, and found a bite that was unexpectedly glorious! Now is the time to share this!
Join us with #WinePW (Wine Pairing Weekend) to share your favorite unexpected pairings with White Wine.

Expected White Wine Pairings
Typically, white wines pair well with lighter foods, think vegetables, and white meats like fish and poultry.
But those are just the basics. White wines come in many forms, sparkling, dry, and sweet, and they can be bright, tart, and linear or rich, heavier in body and wide.
We expect things like lobster and chardonnay, Sauternes and Foie Gras, Champagne and caviar, oysters and Chablis, Riesling, and Spicy Pad Thai.
But we have all had a time when we ordered or opened a bottle of wine without planning a pairing, let’s hear about those surprises, those magical moments that caught you off guard. Or perhaps you are a rebel! Refusing to follow rules, you opened a white wine and purposefully sought to break the rules!

Other potential Unexpected Pairings
I do feel like we can push this a bit further. Maybe your pairing was not food at all. Perhaps you have been curled up with a book and a bottle that might not seem to go together, or maybe it was a movie or a song! (Favorite zombie movie/white wine pairing, anyone?) Feel free to think outside the pairing box!

How to Join Us this month with #WinePW
If you want to participate and write an article with us for the August #WinePW event, send me an email at Robin@42aspens.com or post in the Facebook event group. Make sure to include your name, your site name and URL, and your social media handles.
Post titles are due (in the group event thread) by the end of the day on Tuesday, August 8th!
The post should go up between Thursday the 10th and Saturday the 12th.
I am going to try to do a chat on the new Instagram Threads on Saturday, Aug 12, at 8 am Pacific, 10 am Central, 11 am Eastern, 5 pm in France & Italy, and 6 pm in Istanbul! These chats are always a brilliant way to connect with your fellow wine writers, many of whom are scattered in wine regions across the globe!
Watch the FB Event page for details on our chat. This will be a first for us, I think, so I will be figuring it out! If you have any insights, please let me know!
Here are the articles that the writers have planned. Links are to the writer’s site. Links to the individual articles will be included after the articles go live on Saturday!

Check out our book series, “Tempting Spoonfuls” available through Amazon!
Inspired by the flavors and aromas in wines, these books create “tempting spoonfuls” of flavors to pair with wines.
“Tempting Spoonfuls – Pairing single bites with glorious wines” – Our first book paired wines from boutique wineries on the west coast, in California, Oregon, and Washington, with delicious spoonfuls.
This book is 60 pages, 18 recipes, lots of beautiful photos, and insights into some fantastic small wineries!
“Tempting Spoonfuls – small bites paired with wines from around the Globe” – This book takes us around the globe to explore 12 wine regions, a wine from the region, and then gives you a recipe for a pairing!
A slightly larger book at 104 pages, this time you learn about pairing with a type of wine from a region. Rather than a specific bottle, you can look for a style of wine from a region and feel confident that it will go well with the recipe pairing we provide. We give you 12 recipes, each to pair with a wine.
The goal is to make your mouth water and encourage you to create your own “Tempting Spoonfuls.”
