It's Cabernet Day! Well, let's be more specific,

It's Cabernet Day! Well, let's be more specific, it's Cabernet Sauvignon Day.
______ I'll be honest, we are Rhône people for the most part. So digging through the cellar this was one of the closest I found.
______ This 2012 Chimney Rock Elevage is 57% Merlot, 35% Cabernet sauvignon and 8% petit verdot. (It has cab in it!)
______ We paired it with a cheese plate with some dried currants and blueberries, cheese, meats and black cherries and dark chocolate..
______ We followed that with Pepper encrusted ahi tuna, cauliflower with romesco and an arugula salad.
_______ For me, this was a perfect way to celebrate Cabernet Sauvignon Day. Call me crazy, I prefer him riding shotgun, not driving.

________ In the shade of the iconic Chapel on their hill of Syrah Mike shared with us the stories of this place, how it came to grow wine grapes, the story of the chapel and why generational vineyards like this are so important.

Not a fancy wine. But delicious. This 2015 Rioja Crianza from Marqués de Cáceres has notes of black cherry, blackberry, a touch of baking spice and chocolate mint.
______ The tannins, are smooth, melting off your teeth.
______ Blend: 85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha tinta, and 5% Graciano.
_____ Post dinner, it was nice with a bit of dark chocolate.

Last week we did an online tasting/seminar with @dellevenezie the Consorzio Pinot Grigio DOC. They provided us with these samples.
______ This is a relatively new DOC, approved in Italy in 2017 that just recently received its EU approval.
______ It encompasses the TreVeneto region that includes Veneto, Trentino, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the North East part of Italy.
______ This DOC is for Pinot Grigio and looks to elevate the quality of Pinot Grigio from this, the largest and most productive region in the world for this variety.
_____ While everyone recieved different samples, we received the 2019 Prophecy Wines Pinot Grigio and the 2019 Tommasi Le Rosse.
_____ Last night we paired them with Impossible burgers with fresh homemade pesto, quinoa and broccoli. These wines pair widely and well.

_______ This was one of the final tastings of the 2020 Virtual Wine Media Conference. It was brilliantly done.
______ We tasted the 2019 Kubli Bench Amber from Troon In the Applegate Valley and the 2017 Imprint Pinot Noir from Winderlea in the Dundee Hills. Can't wait to tell you more about these 2 fascinating and delicious biodynamic wines. #WMC2020
